The Boy from Oz performed by the Inner West community Theatre was performance of colour, lights, incredible music and talent brought together by the hard working individuals of the Inner West of Sydney. These types of performances are high paced with many moving pieces that demand a fast photographer that can sense the build up of moments. Inner West community Theatre put on incredible shows throughout the year and are always pushing themselves to provide quality entertainment for their patrons. To get the word out they hired me to capture promotional material to further entice viewers to come in and enjoy a lively show worth every second.

‘It’s rewarding capturing the hard work on local creatives’
When you have a huge ensemble to photograph it can feel like you are going to miss an important moment and in all honesty you can rarely go back and do it again. Luckily by working with directors and the rest of the crew we were able to return to some key moments to meet the brief for promotional material. Something that isn’t mentioned in photographing theatre work is just how incredible it is working with each and every member for a short but wonderful moment. Each person that dedicated their time to make the show as best as it can possibly be is what makes these community shows feel infused with the essence of theatre. It’s rewarding capturing the hard work of local creatives.
