It’s and Aussie classic and a story that crosses the generations. Inner West Theatre Company brought me on the capture the colourful enjoyment of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. This performance is performed by the talent of the locals who have a passion for performance and aim to entertain all who come to view. Hired to photograph the dress run for their promotional material meant a quick trigger and knowledge of the show so they were provided with deliverables to help get word out to the public that this incredible show was ready for the public to come and enjoy!

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

‘This type of photography involves almost mirroring the performance’

A show like this has an impressive amount of costume changes and multiple dance numbers that span the entire show. Being a photographer doesn’t just mean capturing one angle, one moment. This type of photography involves almost mirroring the performance, to move throughout the stage and space as if you were one of the actors so capture each moment of performance. My background in theatre allows me to predict entrances, exits and gives me an innate ability to feel the beats of each moment from the high energy dance numbers to the slow purposeful emotional scenes.
